| While attending and performing at events in 2004 and early 2005 I ran into the various forces that make NIX happen. It turns out that we hit it off and they enjoyed my show enough that I was invited to perform this year. I had heard a lot about NIX over the years and was very happy to finally be making it there. |
| We managed the trip and customs with no problem. And, in fact, made out better than planned by taking a bump on our flights to the tune of some free travel vouchers. Upon our arrival we were picked up at the airport by a staff member (sorry, the name escapes me now) and driven to the hotel. I see a lot of hotels and they mostly blur together for me now but when they provide a rubber duckie, I do take notice - and photos. | ![]() |
| After settling in we headed down to the welcome dinner and party. We are certainly not the sort to ignore free food and beer. The organizers and sponsors did a great job of throwing a party for everyone. The enetertainment for the night was an incredible set by The Matadors shortly after which I decided it was time to begin the stumble back to the hotel for some rest. |
| Friday doors opened for the weekend and we got our booth setup on the floor nearby to the main stage. Once that was taken care it was time to walk the floor and say hi to friends old and new. I wasn't the only freak on hand either. The great Orbax was in attendance with a booth of fantastic taxidermy and scuplture (I proudly have a couple of his pieces in my personal collection) and also worked as MC for the event and contests. | ![]() |

Orbax and I have a history. One that may seem rather rough on the surface but is in fact really about friendship and mutual admiration - as expressed via rude comments, put downs, and one-up-manship. Seriously, I love the guy (like a retarded nephew) and any time he's around it is great fun. The convention was well attended all three days. Most of the artists seemed to be doing a good amount of work and our merchandise sold well. We performed a quick teaser on Friday night and then full one hour + shows on Saturday & Sunday. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the "Beer Fund"!!! |

I got a personal highlight from the trip when I got to meet and talk with Lyle Tuttle. If you consider yourself a fan of tattooing and tattoo culture and aren't familiar with Lyle - you have research to be doing! All told, a very successful outing that I hope to repeat in the future. |
