5th Festival de Tatuajes

 Puerto Rico

July 18 - 20, 2003

Who could say 'no' to a week in Puerto Rico? Not The Lizardman. So, when Charlie and the folks at Wizz tattooing invited me to attend and perform at their 5th annual festival de tatuajes, I responded with an enthusiastic 'yes!'.

In order to do some pre-event press, Scott and I flew in about a week early. This allowed us to not only do a very successful media blitz of local tv and press but also to sight see and enjoy Puerto Rico's incredible natural beauty. Charlie was a host beyond compare. He and his crew looked after our every need and guided us about the island. They took us to the beaches and the rain forest and made sure we had a good time all the while.

This same comphrehensive approach and attention to detail was also evident in the smooth running of the festival itself.

The festival was a bit different from other tattoo conventions and body art events. Besides the many working artists and vendor booths, there was entertainment all day long every in the form of bands, an appearance by Puerto Rico's most tattooed man, a suspension show, a world record attempt (for clothespins on the face), and of course, my sideshow spectacular. It all combined for a very interesting and enjoyable mix
