The Night of 1000 Scars took place at Webster Hall in NYC. This was the premiere party for Dee Snider's movie Strangeland and much of the entertainment was arranged by Keith Alexander. Keith contacted me about doing some fire for the event after I had done a small demo in front of his shop in Brooklyn for Rabcon earlier that year. In alot of ways, this event was a pivotal point in the current era of my life - it was after this event that I cemented my decision to leave my doctoral program and devote myself entirely to performing as both my career and way of life. This was also where I first met and became friends with TSD. I worked under the name Spidergod5 and for my part, I entertained the crowd outside the venue by doing a few blasts (fireballs) and then came inside for a firestaff and fire manipulation routine upstairs followed by the bed of nails, pierced lifting, insectivore and other acts on the smaller stage downstairs. The veening was a great deal of fun and many old and new friends joined me onstage - Keith, among others, took a turn standing on me on the bed of nails. The resulting press and exposure fueled interest in my show and transformation project which, as evidenced by these photos, was not quite at its currently advanced stage. |
