Manta Mirage

This is, without a doubt, the single greatest car I have ever owned as far as pure performance (although bursting into flames in stop and go traffic is less fun). It has been clocked at well over 200 MPH, with an estimated top speed around 230 MPH (no one has been brave enough yet to find out).

This was no cheap kit car -- this was a full tube chassis housing not much more than a built V8 mated to a five-speed ZF transmission. It was the long-wheelbase model, so it had lots of room for my height (6'2"), but to be honest, width-wise it was a very tight squeeze.

For some misguided reason I sold this car to an old man on the west coast that wanted to "show up" the Japanese businessmen in their Porsches in the winding mountain roads of British Columbia that they race on. I suspect that he is dead now, because we hadn't properly set up the suspension, and I don't think he really understood why that was important.
